The rotor surface was worn away, there were no brake pads, no brake backing plates ... nothing! The caliper piston had also been so ground down that it popped out and brake fluid leaked straight out. We were shocked, we had never seen this before. Squealing, grinding, shuddering, changing response times, needing to pump the brake to stop ... these are all signs that things are going very wrong.
